Shilajit Recipes

Recipes with Shilajit

As well as taking shilajit in a drink, some people like to use it in simple home preparations for the skin and hair. The recipes below are traditional preparations, shared for interest. Always patch-test a small area of skin first, and stop using any preparation that causes irritation.

Shilajit skin rub

Dissolve a small amount of shilajit in a few drops of warm water until it forms a smooth paste, and rub it gently over the skin. Rinse with lukewarm water after a few minutes.

Shilajit massage rub

Warm a small amount of shilajit between your fingers until it softens, then mix it with a little carrier oil and use it as a massage rub. Rinse the area afterwards.

Shilajit body mask

Combine shilajit with natural ingredients such as honey, avocado, ginger and nutmeg. Apply the mask to the area you want for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Shilajit for hair care

Shilajit can be added to your usual hair-care routine. Here are three simple ways to use it.

Shilajit based shampoo

Combine 0.5 grams of purified shilajit with your preferred shampoo and mix well. Apply to your hair and scalp and massage for 5 to 7 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cold water.

Shilajit based hair spray

Combine 0.2 grams of shilajit with a diluted hair spray solution and pour it into a clean spray bottle. Use it as directed on the spray solution.

Shilajit and cranberry for hair massage

Soak 100 grams of cranberries in hot water, then grind them into a paste. Mix in 0.5 grams of shilajit and massage the mixture from the scalp to the ends of the hair. Rinse thoroughly.

Shilajit and honey for hair massage

Another massage mixture: combine 0.5 grams of shilajit and 50 grams of honey with 1 cup of warm water. Massage into the hair, then rinse.

Shilajit skin toner

Dissolve 0.2 grams of shilajit in 50 ml of mineral water and pour it into a clean, sterilised jar. Add 5 drops of orange essential oil. Apply the toner to your face and neck, leave it for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse with cold water, pat dry and moisturise as usual.

Shilajit face masks

Here are several face-mask recipes using shilajit and everyday ingredients. Patch-test first, avoid the eye area, and rinse off straight away if you feel any stinging or irritation.

Shilajit based herbal facemask

Mix one tablespoon of moisturiser with 0.3 grams of shilajit, then add 3–4 grams of aloe vera gel and 2 drops of lemon juice. Combine until even. Apply to your face and neck, leave for 25 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Shilajit based honey mask

Combine 2 grams of purified shilajit with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of honey, and mix until even. Apply to the face and neck, leave for 30 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry.

For a simpler version, combine 2 grams of shilajit with one tablespoon of warm honey, apply to the face for 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Shilajit and Egg Mask

Add 0.3 grams of shilajit to one separated egg yolk and beat until fluffy. Apply to your face and let it dry for 25 minutes — a thin dry layer will form — then wash off with cold water.

Shilajit and Yeast mask

Combine one tablespoon of brewer’s yeast with one tablespoon of water, then dissolve 0.3 grams of purified shilajit into it. Add 5 drops of lemon juice and let it infuse for 20 minutes, then stir in 5 drops of tea tree oil. Apply to your face for 25 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water.

Shilajit and rose oil mask

Combine 2 grams of shilajit with 2 tablespoons of rose oil and mix until the shilajit dissolves completely. Apply to your face for 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water and pat dry.

Shilajit based Succinic mask

Combine equal amounts of shilajit and succinic acid powder in a little olive oil or peach oil — or simple warm water, if you prefer. Mix well, apply to the skin briefly, then rinse thoroughly.

Shilajit and oat Mask

Combine 2 tablespoons of oat flakes with 1 tablespoon of boiling water, mix well and let it rest for about 15 minutes. Add 1 gram of shilajit and mix until it dissolves completely. Apply to your face for 20 minutes, then wash off thoroughly with lukewarm water, make sure no residue is left, and moisturise as usual.
